Moving Grate Bar

Moving grate bar is a type of grate used in solid fuel combustion systems, such as coal, biomass and waste. Moving grate bars consist of a series of bars that move horizontally in the furnace. These rods function to support the fuel and to flow the fuel into the furnace. Moving grate bars have several advantages compared to other types of grates, such as fixed grates and grate-firing. 

The advantages of moving grate bars include:

• Higher combustion efficiency: Moving grate bars can increase fuel combustion efficiency by 10-20% compared to fixed grates. This is because the moving grate bar can ensure that the fuel is burned evenly throughout the furnace.

Moving grate bars can be divided into several types based on how they move, namely:

• Step moving grate: Step moving grate is the most commonly used type of moving grate. In a step moving grate, the rods move gradually from one part of the furnace to another.

• Cross moving grate: Cross moving grate is a type of moving grate whose rods move crosswise in the furnace.

• Chain grate: Chain grate is a type of moving grate whose rods are moved by chains.
